Fall on the Farm

Hello to all of our Sara's Suds Followers.  Summer has slipped through the cracks of time and we are once again knee deep in pumpkins, cider, fall leaves and fresh autumn air. As I make my morning walk to the barn the frost crunches on the leaves and the goats call from the stalls to tell me that they are waiting for breakfast. I personally love this time of year but am sad at the same time. I know that winter will be showing up soon to cover the grass and trees with snow and make the wh...

Taking time to smell the roses

It is now mid-July and like everyone and everything else in the country, Sara's Suds has had an extended break in the rat race we call life. As show after show have been cancelled, we have been concentrating on barn repairs, teaching the new babies to behave, and as always milking out that wonderful liquid gold that ends up in almost all of the products we sell.   As frustrating as it is to know that a virus has caused so much stress and upheaval in everyones lives, we have also not...

Hello soap followers. As we here at Sara's Suds took a month off after the holidays to regroup and reorganize, our goats have been working on growing our new crop of babies. It is a little early for our kidding season this year, but due to an illness on my part, I wasn't as organized with my goat breedings as usual. So this year we have added the element of surprise to our already busy life.  Last Saturday, Jan 25, our Nubian doe Blue, decided to have a prolonged labor with a few complic...

OCTOBER???  How can it be October already.  The season of everything pumpking and spice has now officially begun.  Summer has faded and the cool crisp nights have begun.  Are you headed to a football game?  Don't forget to use your Goat's Milk & Honey Lotion before leaving the house as it's a great way  to keep your cheeks from  chapping in the night breeze.  Showering in a bit hotter water now that the mornings are just a bit cooler?  Don't fo...

April is waning and summer is on it's way!

Today as I walked to my barn to feed the goats I took a moment to enjoy the signs of spring around the property. Daffodils are waving their yellow heads in delight of the spring rain that is lightly falling on them. The air has the sweet spring rain smell that only April seems to have. Green is pushing out through the ground and out of the wild honeysuckle that abounds around the property. I see a few dandelions starting to push out some blossoms which is something I can't wait for. Yes folks...

Local Fair Time

This has been a busy week so far at Sara's Suds.  Not only do we make and sell our luxurious soap and lotion we also take care of the herd of goats who support our endeavor by supplying us with this wonderful wholesome milk.  Every year, the first week of September we load up a few of the girls and take them to our local fair.  This gives the community a chance to see our animals, learn more about our farm and goat business, and also city kids a chance to touch an...

Summer is fading fast!

In our neck of the woods in Western Pennsylvania the residents seem to be pushing to squeeze in that last little bit of summer that is soon to be over. The goat and horse barn is full of hay and all of our little spring babies have grown up to be small adults. The leaves are slowly starting to show their golden and russet hues already reminding us that the season of apple pies, pumpkin patches and fall harvest festivals are fast approaching. We at Sara’s Sud...

How can you tell if the soap someone is selling is the real deal?

1. Feel it!

Handmade soap will feel silky, and hard, while melt and pour soap will feel soft, sticky, and may make your hands sore or itchy.

2. Ask about the ingredients!

If they can't tell you the ingredients or start reading off a long list, BEWARE!
